Wow. You have to admire those bleary-eyed guys staring into the darkest night of space. . .I’m talking about the Knights of NASA. Their next “adventure” sounds like another obscenely expensive “mission” to. . .leave more junk scattered across the wild spaces. GRAIL. Once again, folks, I’m a strong supporter of scientific exploration and the rigorous pursuit of knowledge. But these “missions” sometimes appear more like a climb up Mount Everest where you see mounds of litter, junk and pollution just so rich folk can “get high” on themselves while “bagging” another peak. Wouldn’t it be great if these scientists would meet with some of the Star Trek visionaries and map out some practical ideas for space travel (hey, ST gave us the idea for cellphones, tablets and inter-species cooperation, right?), all based on a basic agreement that these are Wild Spaces, Wilderness to explore and learn from, rather than more lands to “conquer?” Wouldn’t that be refreshing, hopeful, cooperative, interesting and wise? I think so. What’s the alternative? We continue our age old fantasy quest for the “Grail”–because it’s a kind of Religion to dream of golden goblets once touched by a god rather than advance our minds and our species by reaching for the true Heavens. Just thinking outloud here.
We simply shouldn’t allow the grail geeks to desecrate the Moon yet again! NASA has become a Rogue Knight leaving a trail of destruction in all of our names (and with way too many of our dollars, without the sense). We’re better than that. We can do better, can’t we?
